Clean and Press. 02/18/2012

The Press and the Abdominals.

This is a repeat, many people have written about this, but lets just go over it quick.  Steve and I always get, what about the abs. What about them? We work them all the time, especially from pressing.  The barbell press or one arm press probably works your abs more then any crunch or fancy machine.  The role of the abdominal is the keep the trunk stabilized while performing activity’s that might harm the spine. Are you not keeping your trunk stabilized when pressing? WELL IF YOU”RE NOT THEN YOU ARE DOING IT WRONG!  I often tell people that you must be so solid that a person could break a piece of two by four on your stomach.  This will not only help you press more weight, it will work those goddam abs.

Daily Workout:
Part A:  (three rounds not for time)
clean and then press 5 reps

Goblet squat with a heart beat 10 reps

If you can’t clean it, you can’t press it.  (exceptions are new members)

Part B:
Two sets of max one arm press rotate each arm right away

Part C:
(With your one arm press weight)

7 min ARMAP:
10 dumbbell hang squat cleans
15 ring rows (scale the ring row so you can keep moving)
